In the USA 6,000 hens were fed seaweed meal thin-shelled eggs went from 3% to 1.9% after three months. However When seaweed was stopped, the proportion of thin-shelled eggs increased again to 3% (SSRA Report). Trials involving 544 White Leghorn pullets, put on a somewhat deficient diet, egg-laying dropped to between 20% and 30%. Egg production improved when 8% when seaweed was added to their diet.

Also chick trials involving a total of 2,356 chicks, when seaweed was added to their feed, there was gain in weight and an improvement in health

More trials involving 3,052 chicks, supplementation with Seaweed meal of chick rations deficient in certain vitamins, particularly A and B, resulted in a marked improvement in growth, feed efficiency and research by (Høie and Sandvik)

We have been using seaweed products in our garden for years and found that there were a lot of products on the market that did not really do what they would claim to do, that they had a lot of chemicals in them and some were so watered down that the goodness was gone out of the seaweed.
